The Bersey Warehouse

The Building

Located in the heart of Shoreditch and forming part of the Hoxton Campus, the Bersey Warehouse offers up to 15,000 sq ft of inspiring and authentic workspaces. The building is a historic former textile warehouse that has since been reimagined into creative workspace offering exposed brickwork finishes, original cast iron columns, wood flooring and exposed timber slatted ceilings.

Aviva acquired the building with the vision of retaining much of the original brick facing seen inside the building and hired Collins Construction as a main contractor. The office spaces have been redesigned by the Buckley Gray Yeoman architects and refurbished by Structura to include full fitouts and furnishings, providing desks, chairs, meeting rooms, and kitchen facilities, as well as a private roof terrace for the 4th floor office. The project aimed to keep the workspaces bright and airy, with the old building keeping much of its character.

Alpine Fabrication has been contracted to design, manufacture and fit all of the FCU covers for the building. This project came with some unique challenges, most notably several different size units were used. Many of the offices had pipework close to adjacent walls, and fitting positions varied on each FCU cover. Through our detailed pre-manufacture survey that we routinely conduct, we were able to work with the client to resolve these clash points and manufacture a high-quality product to fit the required spaces. We ensured the overall dimensions and central grill position of the covers would not compromise the functionality of the FCU while maintaining the required airflow within each unit.

Alpine’s sister company CDC Engineering manufactured and fitted all of the brass and copper work within this building specifically external facades, internal and external signs, bespoke brass cladding doors and facies, lift surrounds, staircase with green copper verde bespoke finish and oak handrail.
